Youth Volunteer Opportunities
Salina Regional Health Center's Youth
Volunteer Program provides opportunities for high school students ages
14-18 to contribute a minimum of 40 service hours to a department
or unit of the Health Center during the summer months. Youth volunteers are
selected from applicants interviewed for service positions and must meet
these additional requirements:
-
have a 2.0 or higher GPA and personally request
program consideration -
complete immunization and TB test
information
-
return signed consent, confidentiality,
and World Class Service commitment forms
-
attend the half-day orientation and
complete department or unit training
Students learn more about healthcare careers
and develop personal qualities such as poise, tact, cooperation, and
handling responsibility.
Each spring in late March, an information meeting is
held for Youth Volunteer candidates. Those wishing to receive a notice of
this meeting can call or email either of the contacts listed below.
Numbers of Youth Volunteers are limited to 40-45 each
summer. Assignments are in a great variety of areas, only some of which
deal with patient diagnosis or care.
Students are asked to serve no more than two summers to
allow others the opportunity to volunteer and explore healthcare career
interests.
For further information call the Health
Center at 785-452-7541 or 452-6159 or email
grose@srhc.com or mkhasket@srhc.com.
