Speech Therapy The Speech Language Pathologists at SRHC work with patients on an inpatient, out patient, and home health basis. Our therapists are trained to treat a variety of disorders. Our Speech Language Pathologists work in diagnosing and treating voice disorders, vocal cord dysfunction, speech & language disorders, cognition and memory deficits, and swallowing disorders in patients from age 3 to adult. A physician referral is required for these services. Our speech pathologists are trained in the leading treatments for dysphagia. Deep Pharyngeal Neuromuscular Stimulation (DPNS) and Vitalstim are offered at our facility. Both of these methods have been proven to be highly effective in the treatment of dysphagia. A modified barium swallow study (MBS) is required prior to initiation of therapy. The Lee Silverman Voice Therapy program is also offered through the speech therapy department at SRHC. This is a voice program which focuses on increasing the volume and clarity of speech in patients with Parkinson's.
