Dismissal

Before both you and the baby go home, your doctor and the baby's doctor must write an order for dismissal. It is helpful if you let your nurse know an approximate time you plan to leave.

If your baby is staying in the nursery after you leave, your nurse will make arrangements with you. The staff will ask when you plan to leave so they can plan for your dismissal.

Birth Certificate

At dismissal time, you will be required to pay the $4.00 fee for registering the birth certificate at the cashier's office.

Kansas law requires that all children be restrained in a car seat. We recommend that you purchase a rear-facing infant seat prior to delivery, become familiar with how to use it, and bring it to the hospital with you. Your baby must be in a car seat when he/she is dismissed.

For questions regarding car seat installation please contact the Kansas Highway Patrol at (785) 827-3065.

Carts are available for taking your belongings to the car.

Once you're home and getting settled, you may have questions. Please feel free to call the Birth Center any time of the day or night for assistance at 785-452-6663. Our staff will be happy to help.
