September 2 - Early Childhood Screening Clinic

Central Kansas Cooperative In Education holds their early childhood screening clinic today for children in Saline, Ottawa and Ellsworth Counties. They will screen children in areas of hearing, seeing, talking, thinking, moving and playing. Children from birth to five years of age and children from ages 3-5 are screened. September 20- Diabetes Support Group

Today is the first in a series of meetings that feature interesting and informative speakers and discussion led by pharmacists from Salina Regional Health Center. Each evening will highlight a different diabetes-related topic designed to provide support for diabetics and their families. Door prizes will be awarded to the first 30 attendees! There will also be a prize drawing at each meeting and a grand prize drawing in June. The September Speaker is Carleigh Cozad, a Pharmacy Resident at SRHC, will lead a discussion on managing and preventing low blood sugar. Valet parking will be available at the hospital entrance.

October 1 - Fe For A Cure

The 2016 Fe for a Cure 5K (3.1 miles) Race/Walk down historic Santa Fe Avenue will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 1st.  Proceeds from the event will be used to benefit breast cancer patients, at Tammy Walker Cancer Center.  Last year we had close to 1,000 participants.  The event is sponsored by Salina Regional Health Foundation, Salina Downtown, Inc., Kansas Wesleyan University, St. John's Military School, North Salina Community Development, and Alpha Media. 
Time: Registration begins at 7:00 a.m., race begins at 9:00 a.m.

October 4 - Immunotherapy For Cancer (Session 1)

Cancer affects so many of us, yet there are not many opportunities to ask questions or have a general discussion. This is your chance to hear from professionals in our community and ask any questions you have about cancer. During Session 1, Dr. Jeffrey Geitz will discuss immunotherapy, a type of treatment which boosts the body’s natural defenses. Please bring your questions for the experts, and register for one or both unique sessions. Instructors are Dr. Jeffrey Geitz and Dr. Muhammad Ahmed, both from the Tammy Walker Cancer Center in Salina. They are passionate about education and sharing the latest in cancer treatment. Session 2 will be held on November 8.
