October 2- What Is Diabetes, Healthy Eating

This program is open to anyone including those newly diagnosed with diabetes, those who
have had diabetes for a long time and anyone who simply wants to learn more. It is being
taught by nurses and dietitians who are certified Diabetes Education Educators, a pharmacist
and a physical therapist.

October 4 - Hospice of Salina 8th Annual Pumpkin Sale

Come enjoy the fantastic array of pumpkins in all shapes and sizes and mums in fall’s best colors.
Enjoy a beautiful day of food, kid’s games, bake sale, hayrides and much more. Get there early to
get the best selection before supplies run out.

October 8 -Depression & Anxiety:
Tools To Manage Life's Ups & Downs

Do you or someone you know often feel anxious or despondent.  This program will help answer
your questions about depression and anxiety, what's normal and what's not, how depression
and anxiety may interfere with life and strategies for managing these emotions in simple concrete
ways.  It's being facilitated by Moira Mulhern, Ph.D, Co-Founder/CEO  of Turning Point: The Center
for Hope and Healing. It is free and open to the public.

October 11 - Fe For A Cure 5K Run

Breast cancer affects us all. Even if you haven't faced the disease, chances are you know someone;
a loved one, friend or neighbor who has. Four community organizations along Santa Fe Avenue in
the heart of Salina; Salina Regional Health Center, Salina Downtown, Inc., Kansas Wesleyan
University and St. John's Military School have joined forces to recognize national Breast Cancer
Awareness Month in October in order to support area breast cancer patients and their families
at the Tammy Walker Cancer Center.

This class is open to anyone newly diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). The class
will answer: What the kidneys do, what causes CKD, the symptoms of CKD, treatments for
CKD and much more.

October 18- Strike Against Cancer At All Star Lanes

Get your team together and sign up (six people per lane). The cost is $10 for two hours of bowling
(includes shoe rental). Pizza Hut will have food you can purchase. There will be a great silent
auction and a 50/50 drawing. Bowl from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. or 7:30 p.m.- 9:30 p.m. Come out
and have a great time while supporting the patients of Tammy Walker Cancer Center.
Tickets may be purchased at any Salina Pizza Hut or All Star Lanes. All proceeds from this event

Communicate effectively with your Hispanic patients and families with this one day seminar.

October 24- Pink RibbonTea

Are you or someone you know without insurance? The mammography bus will be there and
qualifying participants will receive a free mammogram. There will be free breast exams available to
anyone that wants one. Cancer survivors can leave their story on the video diary. Take pink
pictures with your friends. There will be a light lunch served. Click here for flyer.

(formerly Man To Man Prostate Cancer Support Group)

A wonderful group of men and some of their spouses meet once a month to hear a talk pertaining
to men's cancers and have a chance to network with each other about issues they are dealing
with or have questions answered. Everyone is welcome. This is the last meeting of the year. Snack
will be provided.

November 5 (2014) through January 21 (2015)-
Free Smoking Cessation Program -- Spots are limited, call now!

There are only a few spots left for this class so call NOW. The program will consist of eight sessions (beginning on Nov. 5 and going through Jan. 21) led by Dr. Susan Krigel (via ITV) at Tammy Walker Cancer Center from noon to 1:00 p.m. in the second floor library room. You will get counseling and help from Dr. Krigel as well as information and materials to help you quit and keep you on track. The program is interactive and patient-centered. You will learn about addiction, strategies to help quit and stay quit. You will also learn about medications that may be helpful and relapse prevention. The first two sessions will be getting ready and the third session will be the quitting day. If you ever thought you need to quit smoking, sign up for this special class. Click here for flyer

November 7- Oncology Symposium

The Tammy Walker Cancer Center in joint partnership with the University of Kansas Medical
Center Area Health Education Center-West present the 2014 Oncology Symposium. There are
five speakers scheduled to speak on a variety of cancer topics. Registration fee includes
continental breakfast, lunch and electronic handouts. Make checks payable to Salina Regional Health
