Community Health Investment Program
The Community Health Investment Program (CHIP) provides grants to organizations that, like the hospital, are working to improve the health of the people in north central Kansas. Salina Regional Health Center established the program in 1994, and it continues to provide the primary funding. The Salina Regional Health Foundation manages the program. Programs receiving CHIP grants have addressed health maintenance, health education, improved access to health care services, prevention, wellness, health information systems, and other health related services or activities. Some of the recipients have included the Kansas Mission of Mercy free dental clinic in Salina, Rolling Hills Wildlife Adventure's Dream Night event for children with severe disability and chronic disease and St. John's Missionary Baptist Church's Kid Kare program, which provides after school programming for disadvantaged youth. To date, more than $4.5 million have been awarded through the program.
